Green Track System
Sustainable track construction for liveable cities
Green tracks create new green spaces in urban areas and increase acceptance of modern tramway systems. The Green Track Systems combine ecological advantages with high technical performance.
Product Features
- Vibration-damping
- Electrical insulation capability / watertightness
- Durability
- Ease of handling / precision fit
- 100% recyclable
- Positive environmental balance
- No maintenance required
Flexible for different construction types
There is a wide variety of green track constructions that differ considerably in terms of construction and maintenance. However, green track constructions can be categorised into three types:
- raised green track
- low-level green track
- mixed green track (raised outside, low-level inside)
The system is suitable for raised and mixed green tracks as well as for continuously and discretely supported superstructure types. Variants for different rail types and sleeper spacings enable a precise implementation.
Ecological and economical
Green tracks reduce noise, bind fine particulate matter and improve rainwater retention. The durable materials ensure low maintenance costs and a positive environmental footprint.
Standards-compliant safety
The Green Track Systems are tested in compliance with standards. The electrical insulation capability meets DIN EN 50122-2, the material properties comply with DIN 45673-8.
Green Track Systems
- Bulk density: ~1.1 g/cm3 (DIN 52102-RE-VB)
- Material properties in accordance with DIN 45673-8
- Water and de-icing salt resistant in accordance with Section 6.4.3 and 6.4.4
- Ageing resistant in accordance with Section 6.4.5
- Electrically insulating in accordance with DIN EN 50122-2
- Heat resistance in the range of overlay welding temperature (+300°C)
Filler Blocks SVZ Zwickau
For a greened sleeper track installed on a steel trough bridge, the focus was on protecting the structure and ensuring reliable electrical insulation. Around 2,800 filler block elements for the 49E1 rail profile enable a future grass track covering while ensuring stable track guidance.
Approximately 1,300 m² of protection mats and ballast bed mats in the format 200 × 100 × 1 cm were installed in two layers with a total thickness of 2 cm. The mats were bonded horizontally and vertically onto the corrosion protection layer using the construction adhesive HET V Bond 40. This reduces wear caused by track ballast and provides long-term protection for the steel bridge trough.
